There are three basic components to Transactional Conversations, and I am happy to take this opportunity to explain some details about them. The first component is that it is a Podcast Platform. This is where I target Leaders and Entrepreneurs who struggle with the crossroads of their Businesses, Relationships, Careers, and Lives. The primary goal is to exchange information, complete a task, or make decisions. Transactional conversations follow a clear structure to minimize ambiguity, declutter limiting beliefs, and accept the possibility of newness and a shift in their mindset. After these sessions, there are clear and defined actions one must take to engage in acceptance and fulfillment; it all leads to Intentionality, Clarity, and Purpose.
Then there is the Coaching Component which is a mirror of the Podcasting platform; except it now becomes deeply personal, soul-searching, and focuses on the strengths of the Clients who seek Clarity and a re-defining of their Purpose in life. They largely want to re-ignite the waning passion for what they do, and clearly define the reason for why they became who they were in the first place. We go from Discovery to Clarity, and then to decisions, oftentimes embracing a paradigm shift in their character and personality. Finally, the clouds of uncertainty dissipate, and the innocence of life with its childlike curiosity becomes the new approach to their challenges.
Then there is the art of Public Speaking, as a Certified Public Speaker and Speech Writer, it has been my experience, that many of the skills we acquire in this sphere, come from trial and error and repetition, but here are some of the fundamentals: Participants aim to be concise and stay on-topic to achieve the goal quickly, the focus is on sharing factual, relevant, and actionable information. Emotional undertones are minimal unless they directly affect the outcome (e.g., empathy in customer service). Use clear, specific language to avoid misunderstandings, and avoid jargon or overly technical terms unless both parties understand them. Even in transactional conversations, politeness can enhance cooperation, and maintaining a professional tone is essential, especially in formal settings. Some Common Techniques are:
Active Listening: To ensure you fully understand the other party’s needs or requests.
Closed-Ended Questions: To get precise answers (e.g., "What is your preferred delivery date?").
Confirmation: Repeating or paraphrasing key points to confirm mutual understanding. Prepare in Advance: Have all necessary information ready to streamline the discussion/presentation. Be Time-Sensitive: Respect the other person’s time by being concise and focused. Clarify Objectives: Ensure both parties understand the purpose of the conversation/meeting. Stay Neutral: Maintain a calm and objective demeanor, especially in conflict situations/groups. Follow-Up: Summarize key points or next steps to ensure the task is completed successfully.
